Description
HARMONY SINGING features Les Amies Louisianaises, the renowned Cajun
French harmony group from Lake Charles, Louisiana. Les Amies --
Jeanette Aguillard, Janet Aguillard, Lisa Aguillard and Donna Suarez
-- all grew up surrounded by the rich musical heritage of southwest
Louisiana. They met when they were members of a church choir. When
they decided to sing together, there were several obstacles they had to
overcome in order to share the music of their heritage, namely that
traditional Cajun music was almost always sung by a man, and rarely
included harmonized voices. These amazing vocalists have succeeded in
bringing their musical artistry to appreciative audiences across the
region and in 2005 were voted "Best Female Vocalists" by the CFMA. In
this workshop, they will share their impressive talent with us and teach
us the basics of harmony singing, so come prepared for a truly unique
experience!
