Description
LA LA TO ZYDECO will highlight the fascinating evolution of today's
Zydeco music. This special glimpse into the musical heritage of
southwest Louisiana will be presented by Dr. Robert Willey of ULL, who
recently produced the acclaimed DVD "La La to Zydeco." The DVD was
published by the Center of Louisiana Studies at ULL and is a compilation
of ninety minutes of video recordings made over a thirty-year period. It
includes performances by Clifton Chenier; Boozoo Chavis; Keith, Preston,
and Carlton Frank; Nathan Williams; John and Geno Delafose; Bois Sec
Ardoin; BeauSoleil; and many other musical greats. Dr. Willey will use
excerpts from this DVD to highlight the workshop presentation, which
will be co-presented by music historian, writer and radio host Herman
Fuselier. Accordionist and vocalist Joe Hall will provide the musical
accompaniment. If you would like to learn more about Dr. Willey and his
DVD project, visit www.willshare.com/zydeco/ .
