Great news, everyone!

You may have already heard, but the word is very much out now about our
new Executive Director at Louisiana Folk Roots. We're very pleased to
announce that Todd Mouton, whom many of you know as the director of the
amazing Louisiana Crossroads concert series and Cultural Economy
Development Initiative, came aboard as our Executive Director in
October. We're also excited to welcome Louisiana Crossroads Assistant
Director Vicki Chrisman to Louisiana Folk Roots as our new Assistant
Director. Todd and Vicki will continue to direct the Acadiana Arts
Council-Lafayette Economic Development Authority partnership known as
Louisiana Crossroads as well as Louisiana Folk Roots as part of this
truly unique alliance between the three entities.  What's more,
Louisiana Folk Roots will soon move its office to the new Acadiana
Center for the Arts building at 101 W. Vermilion St. in downtown
Lafayette.

Todd says it all when he tells us "We've got great things planned. We'll
be making some exciting announcements soon about the Dewey Balfa Cajun
and Creole Heritage Week coming up at Chicot State Park in April, 2007,
including camp instructors and some super new additions to the
facilities at Chicot. We need your help to make our efforts everything
they can possibly be, so please give us a call or drop us an e-mail
anytime with your thoughts and suggestions. Our door is always
completely open."

Louisiana Folk Roots Founding Director Christine Balfa is excited, too.
She says "Louisiana Crossroads is well-known for its pioneering work
with many folk traditions while Louisiana Folk Roots has earned a
reputation as the preeminent source for hands-on, immersive learning
centered in our Cajun and Creole cultures. We're really looking forward
to growing all our programs and believe this new partnership will lead
us to rewards we've not even imagined yet."

Please stay tuned for more good news, and don't hesitate to call us at
337-234-8360, email info@lafolkroots.org , or visit www.lafolkroots.org
if you'd like to know more about all the great things we've got in
store.

And one more thing...we thought you might like to know that so far we've
received a record number of registrations for our April 20-26, 2007
camp. If you haven't done so already, we hope you're making plans to
join us at the Spring 2007 Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week.
We promise you won't want to miss it!

As always, thank you for your support and interest. We truly hope to see
you soon!
