Louisiana Folk Roots is a connector and a convener. Our events are places where folks meet on common ground to exchange ideas about Louisiana’s vibrant and venerable living traditions.
We’re committed to the idea that our cultural expressions are born from and flourish because of their diverse influences. Our many programs and projects promote inclusion and experiential learning for novice and accomplished participants alike.
The organization was founded by volunteers in 2000. We’re sustained through the support of current Friends of Louisiana Folk Roots and Lifetime Members, along with numerous public and private funders.
Folk Roots programs are inclusive. The organization’s activities do not discriminate on the basis of ability or disability in admission, access, or employment. People of varied ages, ethnicity, gender, heritage, race, and religions participate in Folk Roots programs.
Louisiana Folk Roots is based in Lafayette, the heart of Cajun and Creole Louisiana, and we’d like to spend some time with you. Please browse our events and archives, and get in touch with us anytime. Merci beaucoup!
